On behalf of the staff at the Idaho Board of Medicine, please accept our welcome and congratulations on your appointment to the Board. Each position on the Board is an important one and your service to the citizens of Idaho is appreciated.

Your position as a member of the Board allows you to be reimbursed for certain expenses associated with Board service, and may allow you to receive honorariums, as established by Board regulation.You will receive certain forms to complete which will provide us with the information necessary to process those payments. Please complete and return the forms at your earliest convenience.

You will also be notified of the next Board Member Training program, which will provide valuable information concerning the Board and the services provided by the Board. You will also receive an agenda for the next meeting of the Board. Those agendas are also posted on the Board's web site.

You have been appointed to the official state regulatory body of a specific profession. The Board has been given authority by law to regulate that profession by developing and enforcing various requirements. The Board's primary and over-riding mandate is to focus on the protection of the health, safety, and welfare of the general public of Idaho. As a member of the Board, you are an advocate of the public and should strive to always act in the public's best interests.

It is recommended that you familiarize yourself with the laws and rules that govern the profession. A link to the laws and rules can be found on the Board's web site.
